Solar panel prices in 2026: what installation really costs

Up-to-date prices by system size, what is (and isn't) included in a quote, and the signs of a proposal you shouldn't take seriously.
Reference prices
In 2026, a turnkey 3 kWp residential system costs between €3,200 and €3,900; a 5 kWp system between €4,700 and €5,600; and an 8 kWp system with a 10 kWh battery between €10,500 and €12,500.
Prices per installed Wp keep falling, but the difference between proposals lies mainly in the quality of the inverter, the mounting structure and the workmanship.
What should be included
A complete quote includes panels, inverter, mounting structure, DC and AC protection, cabling, labour, UPAC registration (UPAC being the self-consumption unit that has to be registered with the Portuguese authorities), monitoring and an installation warranty.
Be wary of proposals that leave out the electrical protection or the legal registration: they are usually the cheapest, and the ones that create the most expensive problems.
VAT and support schemes
Some solar energy equipment qualifies for a reduced rate of VAT. Always check whether the price quoted already includes tax and whether the installer issues an invoice with the correct description.
